Devin's Unique CASTABILITY
[ ELAINE ] 20 to 35 years old, female. Open to Southern accents - doesn't have to be specifically linked with Indiana. A struggling single mother, style-less hair, not fashionably thin but gaunt from hard work and poverty. Elaine is a single young mother living in a trailer in Mitchell, Indiana, with her three children. She meets a foul mouthed, womanizing lumberman, living across the street who becomes the friendly support she least expected. Jim helps Elaine turn her life around but is unable to help when she is faced with a devastating, terminal illness. LEAD
[ CAT WHEELER ] Mid-to-late 20s, doe-eyed and disheveled, a bit irresponsible, a nervous talker. Cat is a young teacher at the high school (and used to be a student there). She wants to be taken seriously but she doesn't quite know how to act the part of authority figure. She is asked by Coach Wenders to accompany the soccer team on the trip to the Nationals... despite not knowing a damn thing about soccer. Cat's been nursing a big crush on Assistant Coach Ben Scott, which helps convince her to accept a position on the team. GUEST STAR/POSSIBLE RECURRING
[ MICKEY ] The kind of kid who’s had to grow up too fast. Looking after her father Hank — who’s both a veteran showing signs of PTSD and an opioid addict — after her mom’s death from cancer has forced her to take on the duties of the house and to become her father’s caretaker. Mickey’s halfheartedly resigned that this is her lot in life, to pick up her drunk dad from the local jail or hospital, to worry about him constantly or to watch out for his mood swings. But a series of events close to the end of her senior year cause Mickey to reevaluate her life and whether or not she should stay home and continue to weather her dad’s unpredictable behavior. LEAD
[ DANI ] Queer. A powerful and calculating PR executive who desperately wants to use that power for good. She's trying (and often failing) to balance her enormous career ambitions and her personal life, but constantly feels like she's not giving enough of herself to either one. She has a complicated relationship with her father and is struggling to forge her own path while still maintaining a meaningful relationship with him. GUEST STAR
